The process of choosing a counsellor begins long-before you arrive at the first session. Often there is a feeling within ourselves that something is just not right; It maybe a time marked by a great deal of personal introspection or it could be an intervention from an external source— school, family, friends, your doctor—that motivates contact with a therapist. As your therapist, Ann will work with you to establish a meaningful relationship where you feel safe to explore and resolve issues that fit your unique needs at this moment in time.

As a person-centered therapist, Ann will always work toward fostering an environment where clients can encounter themselves and become more intimate with their own thoughts, feelings and motivations.

As an experienced couples counsellor, Ann has completed Level 3 practicum training in the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy. The evidence based Gottman method for making relationships work, recognizes that couples do well together when they become better friends, learn to safely manage conflict, and create ways to support each other’s hopes for the future.

Ann is an Internationally Certified Sandplay therapist who offers Jungian sandplay in her counselling practice. It is a therapeutic approach that involves spontaneous, imaginative play in small trays of wet or dry sand with miniature figurines and objects. Jungian sandplay is highly effective with children and youth who are facing grief, loss, trauma and attachment related concerns.

Ann holds basic EMDRIA certification in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy which is a highly effective modality in individuals suffering from complex trauma.
